Levitate is an EP created under the name Goodnight My Darling. Thematically, this body of work explores death and dying, which is a commonly taboo topic within New Zealand and western culture. I have sought to research why this is, and created songs with this theme in mind. These narratives draw from personal experience.

The sampling from the late Blossom Dearie, a great jazz singer and pianist from the era, is intended to bring forward someone passed, regenerating life through their music.

The tracks have been produced with Ableton Live as the software is suitable for the style of my live performance, now that the EP is complete.

I organised the media content and released the EP on the 20th of September at Wellington Chocolate Factory, which has a history relevant to my theme. The show was greatly successful and the EP is now available on SoundCloud.
