Purple Haze

Information

_Purple Haze_ is a photographic project that investigates the unconscious mind and our inability to understand or define what the unconscious is. Metaphorically, _Purple Haze_ depicts this collision and what it may look like. These dreamlike images visually express the symbols, signs, feelings, and impulses that build up in the unconscious mind and are not able to be easily represented. My images aim to provide a cue for the viewer to experience this liminal state. Engaging with self-exploration, drawing from personal experiences and opinions, the three large-scale semi-transparent banners also take a cue from Surrealist and Psychedelic art movements. _Purple Haze_ uses digital and physical manipulation, including the kaleidoscope and collages to create a reimagined state of mind in an arresting and abstract way. Famously psychoanalysts Carl Jung and Sigmund Freud began this interrogation and research into the workings of the unconscious mind.
