Te Ara Paihere Together, is a photobook that explores the discourse of current bicultural understanding between Māori and Pākehā, in relation to our Christian heritage in Aotearoa. Beach Church (located in Raumati within the Kāpiti region) has aspirations to build a unique partnership between Māori and Pākehā. This location possessed the characteristics of whanaungatanga/connectedness I wanted to investigate. From immersion within this location, I have constructed a photobook narrative, using methodologies from primary research and photography through ethnography, (photo-ethnography) coupled with conversational exerts. The title: Te Ara Paihere (the pathway of unity) Together represents a visual manifestation of kotahitanga/partnership, expressed through the embodiment of the mana/spirit within a community.
