Frozen Images explores and investigates the cultural heritage and significance embedded within Chinese characters and typographic system. As a type enthusiast from an Oriental background, the fascinating differences in visual structures and typographic system between Chinese characters and English alphabet are what initiated my exploration. Chinese characters are frozen images of a snatch of history, stories and ancient wisdom condensed into graphic strokes. Every character has a story to tell; each stroke that constructs the character gives it a purpose and reflects the cultural heritage and ancient philosophy. The project aims to and reflect the cultural significance of Chinese characters and typographic system and to inform the the audience the essence and unspoken stories of this beautiful language.
