Information
My curiosity around revealing memories and experiences stemmed from my Father’s story, which encompasses his memoir of being a survivor and refugee of the Cambodian genocide. Growing up, I would hear his experiences that were recollected vaguely, in passing, momentary, and often left to wander through the air. This led to my interest, as a designer, in how I could document and contain his, and other refugees’, story for generations to come. Through last semesters process of exploration, I consequently decided to employ the strategy of print to create an artefact in which such stories could be recorded, revealed and passed on in a way that preserves the history of New Zealand refugees and their stories.
